“Science is a way of thinking much more than it is a body of knowledge”- Carl Sagan
Thanks to my high school science teachers, who saw in me an “inquisitive spirit”, I was inspired to pursue a lifelong journey in science education. I started as a volunteer at the Franklin Institute and eventually became a camp counselor and manager for their programs while in college. After graduation, I remained in Berks County, and a series of delightful events led me to my current role as a secondary science teacher.
Teaching science allows me to exercise my creativity and find new and innovative ways to meet the needs of all my students. I am a lifelong learner and always challenging myself to learn and try new things. I hope to have a meaningful impact on my students, just as my teachers had on me. When I see a naturally inquisitive student, I make sure to encourage them to pursue the sciences, as you never know how impactful you might be.
